Tagore singer Kamal Ahmed charmed a houseful audience rendering popular monsoon songs of Nobel laureate poet Rabindranath Tagore at a solo show held at Kabi Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum on Saturday.
The event titled ‘Barshar Bhalobasha’ was organised by Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre.
Kamal Ahmed commenced the event singing Tagore song Abar esheche Ashar. His soothing voice wafted around the whole jam-packed auditorium as the audience was presented with one Tagore song after another.
Kamal performed Tagore’s popular songs, which depicts the monsoon season and the romantic aura it brings to the people’s lives, such as Badol diner prothom kodom phool, Aji jhorer raatey, Ashar shondha ghoniye elo and more
Besides, he presented a few romantic songs such as Nishi na pohatey, Asha jawar pother dhare, Ei udashi hawar pothe pothe and Jodi jantem amar kisher betha.
The singer was supported by Subir Ghosh on tabla, Rabius Choudhury on keyboard, Sunil Chandra Das on violin, Nasir Uddin on guitar and Shahadat Hossain Rony on percussion and mandira.
Kamal Ahmed is working as a director (programme) for Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television. He received classical training under Ustad Phool Mohammad. He has won various prestigious awards such as SAARC Cultural Society Award (2010), Bangabandhu Gobeshona Foundation Award (2015) and Adwaitia Mallabarman Award (2017).
